AEC Reveals Redesigned, Updated Website

Announces Extrusion Application Tools for Designers & Engineers

Wauconda, Illinois (July 5, 2012) —The Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC), the leading association for information pertaining to aluminum extrusion applications, design and processes, has unveiled the latest resources available to designers, engineers, architects, academics and others. In June, the Council unveiled a newly redesigned website.

The Council's website at www.AEC.org is dedicated to providing design and engineering professionals with useful and valuable information and resources related to aluminum extrusion design, applications, technical and process details, sustainability and more. The updated website includes much of the information that was available on the previous site, with significant enhancements related to applications, sustainability and fabrication. Further, it is packaged with a fresh, clean look and improved functionality.

The home page features rotating images highlighting applications in various market sectors that incorporate extruded aluminum in their design; details on the applications presented in short case studies are just a click away. The information on the website is organized into sections, including Extrusion Applications, Extrusion Basics, Extrusion Design Resources, Sustainability, Find an Extruder, About AEC, and Membership Services. The Find an Extruder section provides a valuable search feature where visitors can locate an extruder by a number of factors, including type of forms produced, finishing and fabrication services, certifications, and more. Visit www.AEC.org today to learn more.

Recently, the AEC renewed its commitment to increase demand for extruded aluminum by reaching out to design and engineering professionals and students through its Industry Promotion and Academic Outreach efforts. "It is the Council's goal to be the definitive source for all-things aluminum extrusion for designers, engineers, academia, and others," noted AEC Director of Operations Mike Schultze. "The AEC website contains a wealth of information to share and we hope to assist visitors in realizing the many cost and design advantages of using extruded aluminum."

Other resources available on the website include the free 2012 Buyers' Guide, a comprehensive directory of AEC members and their capabilities, and the results of an independent two-phase study that confirms the material and economic advantages of using extruded aluminum for solar structural framing applications. Both phases of the study concluded that aluminum extrusion mounting systems were an economical alternative to galvanized steel when the total costs of materials, other components, shipping, and installation were considered. Results of the Concentrated Solar Power (CSP) and the photovoltaic (PV) studies can be downloaded from the AEC website by choosing "Extrusion Applications", "Energy".
