Aluminum Extruders Council's Industry Promotion Efforts Reach New Heights

(Wauconda, Illinois; April 3, 2014) -- At the Annual Meeting in Coral Gables, FL in March, the Industry Promotion Team of the Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) announced dramatic results from its Industry Promotion efforts. The effort, which was initiated in early 2010 and took root in 2012, has been focused on the automotive, building & construction, and solar industries. Additionally, horizontal messaging has been used to promote the common benefits of aluminum extrusions across hundreds of applications.

Joe Golec, Vice President of Sales and Marketing for Pennex Aluminum, presented the AEC membership an update during the general session. In his presentation, Mr. Golec exhibited the new aec.org website launched 18 months ago, reported on the many trade shows where the AEC has displayed and supported the industry, the numerous webinars that have been conducted with media partners, and AEC Daily, an online training course for architects and designers in the commercial building and construction industry.

The results were impressive. Golec reported that web traffic has been up by over 50 percent since 2013 with most of this growth coming from first time viewers. In the last year alone there have been nearly 5,000 views of the 'Find an Extruder' page with over 70 percent of those visitors clicking on at least one AEC member extruder. Since June of 2013, over 800 participants have viewed an AEC Webinar with over half of those being design professionals. The AECDaily.com program has been viewed and completed for continuing education credit by scores of architectural professionals every month. In total, AEC Industry Promotion efforts have generated 4,500 new contacts in their database allowing for continued contact and updates about the aluminum extrusion industry.

And, the momentum will continue. Gloec announced two additional webinars scheduled within the next 6 weeks with more activities planned for later in the year. A webinar focusing on recent building code changes and the implications for extruded building components will be presented April 30 in conjunction with the Construction Specifications Institute, and one on utilizing extrusions for effective product solutions, addressing a wide range of industries, will be presented with Machine Design on May 8. Information about both can be found at aec.org

In concluding, Mr. Golec noted that, "As we increase our outreach activities, AEC members reap the benefits of our broad education and promotion initiative for pennies on the dollar versus what it would cost members to promote individually."
