Supercharger Rotor Assembly for an Automobile Engine
You are looking at a supercharger rotor assembly for an automobile engine. These marvelous works of engineering help boost the power and speed of some of the top cars on the road and help provide an optimal balance of performance and economy. Inter-twinning rotors spin to compress an air/fuel mixture into a combustion chamber for turbocharged performance.
For these rotors, a unique process was created to extrude the aluminum rotors, twisting the extrusions as they came through a die. And, as you can imagine, they are made to absolutely precise requirements so that they can turn and intertwine flawlessly and perform under extreme heat conditions. The result is pure genius. A strong, light-weight, high-performance product.
- Extrusions are stronger than castings and improve machinability
- The extrusion process eliminates pores found in the prior cast product, improving overall product strength and performance
- Higher investment recovery rate for customer (due to tooling and processing advantages of extrusions over castings)
- Produced using a customized 6061 high strength alloy
Eaton's new Twin Vortices Series (TVS) superchargers features four-lobe rotors, with 160-degree twist, providing high-flow inlet and outlet ports that greatly enhance thermal efficiency, deliver higher volumetric capacity, and enable higher operating speeds. Click here to find out more.
