AEC Process Optimization Workshop Offers a "Soup-to-Nuts" Overview of Extrusion Process

(Wauconda, Illinois; October 9, 2014) -- The Aluminum Extruders Council (AEC) is offering a newly revised and enhanced educational workshop that provides aluminum extruders with a comprehensive review of the entire extrusion process. The AEC Process Optimization Workshop is scheduled for Tuesday, November 4 and Wednesday, November 5, 2014 at the Hilton Rosemont Hotel in Rosemont, Illinois.

The Process Optimization Workshop is a new educational workshop that offers a "soup to nuts" overview of the extrusion process, equipment, data systems, and more. The Workshop provides a comprehensive learning experience of the complete extrusion process and was developed by a dedicated team of AEC volunteers who are experts in their fields.

The level of information and training that will be presented is focused specifically on the aluminum extrusion process from metallurgy, processing, equipment and optimization perspectives. While the Workshop will touch lightly on tooling and maintenance issues it will not cover the same material presented by the AEC Die Clinics, Finishing, and Press Maintenance Workshops. "There will be very little overlap in content; in fact, the three offerings are very complementary from an educational viewpoint," said AEC Academy Chairman, Craig Werner of Werner Extrusion Solutions in Libertyville, Illinois.

Because of the tremendous amount of detailed material to be covered, the in-person workshop will be bracketed by a "pre-webinar" offered a week before and "post-webinar" offered a few weeks after the early November Process Optimization Workshop - only available to registered attendees. The in-person portion of the Workshop will be a combination of presentation style learning opportunities and equipment panelist Q&A discussions.

The presentation sessions will utilize renowned industry experts who will share their expertise while guided problem-solving sessions provide an opportunity for attendees to utilize the information presented in small groups to drive home the key educational points presented in a manner which will further aid retention.

The equipment panel discussions will feature a wide variety of AEC Supplier experts covering log systems, extrusion presses, handling systems and aging equipment/handling/packaging of extrusions in four separate panel discussions. Topics for these panel discussions will provide a comprehensive understanding of the equipment and systems and allow various suppliers to present information about their specific offerings.

Registration is only available for AEC members. Early and Team registration discounts are available until October 13, 2014. Limited space is available. Visit AECmeets.org for more information on the Process Optimization Workshop, November 4-5, 2014 in Rosemont, Illinois.
